How important are some traditions to add into your Wedding?

I coordinated a Wedding for a Bride who did not have a first dance….

If you were shocked at that first sentence, I’m glad you agree!!
Now yes this was entirely the couples decision & I respect any decision the couple make however, let me just explain how important I feel a tradition like this is to add in & what I saw because it wasn’t included.

There are a lot of traditions out there, traditions create the day of a Wedding. Some of the obvious ones are the Wedding Cake (I know I love this one), the Wedding ring, the white dress, the actual term “Wedding”. Whether you include traditions in your special day or not is entirely up to you & your family. There are some traditions in my opinion that should not be looked over, it sets the mood and ensures the night runs smoothly.

Your First Dance… I cannot stress enough that this should be included or at least considered to be in your special day (& it’s my job as your Wedding Planner to talk you into it).

I experienced a Client’s Wedding where the First Dance was not included & the suppliers & I all felt this difference, it didn’t allow anyone to be on the dance floor as the guests weren’t sure if the couple still were yet to have their first dance & “christen” the dance floor with this special moment. If there had been a first dance, that would allow for the “party” side of the evening to get started (yes - this is what we are ALL waiting for, the formalities to be over & the party to start!).

So Brides, Grooms, if you are thinking that you may not be a good dancer or that you don’t want to be embarrassed etc, think about how this opens up the evening & shares such a special moment with all your guests & family. You get to have this time with your Lover, even if you just sway side to side, let that romance spark! It lets everyone know that the Dance Floor is open for some serious dance business & it helps the musician to play everyone’s favourites (*cough * Horses) & really set the mood for the evening.
